11.16.2006: One Year Rezoning Anniversary

A reminder that today, one year ago at approx. 2:15 PM, NY City Council unanimously voted in favor of the South Park Slope ULURP, rezoning South Park Slope and Greenwood Hts.

Blood, sweat and tears of two years and the fastest rezoning (down-zoning on the side streets, up-zoning along 4th Ave corridor) was worth all the effort.

And a bigger THANK YOU again to all the groups, individuals, elected officials (AM Brennan, CGR. Velasquez, BP Markowitz, CM deBlasio and CM Gonzalez, PA Gottbaum and others…) Community Board 7, our press/media/bloggers who made this happen.

Happy to have been a part of it…even happier at the anniversary!

Here’s to remembering our BSA battles, won and lost and to the ongoing watchdogging of our ever growing neighborhoods. Further preservation and planning is need in Brooklyn, so let’s make sure to support the upcoming re-zoning of other neighborhoods in the Boro.

Onward!

New DOB search tool for online building information.

Buildings Commissioner Patricia J. Lancaster, FAIA, announced the launch
of My Community, (http://a810-bisweb.nyc.gov/bisweb/my_community.jsp), a new user-friendly website search feature. My Community is an easy-to-use
extension of the Department’s online Building Information System (BIS),
a database of over 950,000 properties located throughout New York City’s
five boroughs. By searching by address or community board, My Community
makes it easier to obtain lists of new building permits, major
alterations and full demolitions in any given local community board.
